Type S Mortar Cement (1800 psi) is typically used for load-bearing walls. Whether these walls are above or below grade, engineers will typically specify the use of type s for 

1. Block Foundations
2. Black Patrician Walls 
3. Stucco mixes complying with the requirements for ASTM C 926.

This product can be purchased in a pre-mix or standard cement only bag.
